GRAPHING EXPERIENCE lab manual

introduction

Graphs are very important because they communicate information visually. For this

reason, graphs are often used in newspapers, magazines, and businesses around the

world, as well as on the Internet. Graphs have two main purposes: (1) to summarize data

so it is easy to read, and (2) to show the relationship between two variable quantities.

Because the use of graphs is so common in the sciences, it is imperative that chemistry

students know

howto construct and interpret graphs.

In this lab, students will gather data, construct a line graph, and extract information from

that graph by interpolation.
