NUR321 Utica College Professional Nursing Organizations Presentation

Conduct an Internet search on five professional nursing organizations. Prepare a professional presentation to introduce your peers or nurses to these organizations and inform your audiences on the value of professional organizations.

Using a PowerPoint format, please report on the following:

  • Purpose or stated mission/goal of each organization
  • Membership requirements
  • Available resources available to both members & non-members
  • Nursing population targeted by the organization (for example: educators, Med-Surg nurses, Psychiatric nurses, Pediatric nurses, etc.),
  • Any advocacy groups supported by the organization, and associated publication(s)
  • Any topics or unique offerings you wish to include for each organization
  • An analysis of how each organization could potentially enhance your entry and support you as you enter the nursing profession (if the organization does not appeal to you, please report providing a rationale)

PRESENTATION GUIDELINES

Design a 15-20 slide PowerPoint presentation following the following guidelines:

  • Follow the 5/5/5 rule: no more than five words per line of text, five lines of text per slide, or five text-heavy slides in a row
  • Include a title slide with your name, date, course number & instructor name, and title of presentation
  • Provide additional information as necessary in notes (for each slide)
  • Include a reference slide with APA-formatted references
  • Cite sources appropriately for each slide in which resources are used
  • Use graphics to enhance the quality of the presentation. A picture, graph, or any visual component is generally acceptable every 2-3 slides; clip art or “fun” art do not qualify
  • Use an identical font sizes and background for each slide
  • Background is professional and free of distracting colors or images

Grading rubric:

Information is organized in a clear, logical way. Notes expand consistently upon slide content. Follows the 5/5/5 rule: no more than five words per line of text, five lines of text per slide, or five text-heavy slides in a row (for at least 90% of presentation)

PowerPoint contains no less than 15 and no more than 20 slides. Reports on required items fully and supports the theme/content of the presentation with a comprehensive analysis

100% of graphics are attractive (size and colors) and support the theme/content of the presentation.

Presentation has no misspellings or grammatical errors

All sources (information and graphics) are accurately documented in the desired APA format.
