Your client has just walked out on her partner because he stabbed her in the shoulder with a fork. The violence in the relationship had been escalating for the past year and included shouting, name calling, stealing (taking her money) and spitting. The couple had tried counselling six months ago but your client’s partner thought that the counsellor was against them and after only one session, wouldn’t continue. Your client thought it might get better because it was quite calm for a month after that but then it got much worse and included physical abuse to the point where she became scared that the threats to kill her might be real after all.
