RHIT Certification Prep

Review of AHIMA Domains

We will focus on some review and an overall assessment of the knowledge of the six AHIMA domains required for the RHIT exam.

  1. Assume you are working in a health information role (such as coder, release of information, registry, director, etc.) in a hospital, physician office, insurance company, or similar employer. Specify the chosen setting and the chosen role. From that chosen perspective, describe what your job entails in detail, and comment on some ethical aspects you should be familiar with.
  2. Discuss the structure of the RHIT exam, including the domains, number of questions, time provided, materials you may or may not be allowed to use, and registration process. Also, share some tips that can help you improve your test-taking skills.
  3. Identify one area of strength and one area of weakness when it comes to the RHIT domains. Be specific within the domain, and describe which part you excel at or which part you need to work on. Also, share your plan on improving the identified weakness (which books or materials you will need to review, how, and when you will review them).
