you will be writing about a short story of your choice (as long as it is a fictional narrative). You will choose ONE of the elements of a narrative (plot, setting, characterization, point of view, conflict, tone/mood, or theme/moral) and discuss why it is the most important narrative element in that particular story. Your essay should be in MLA format and must be at least three (3) full pages in length, which means that you should write at least one line onto the fourth page.

Your thesis statement will be at the end of your introduction and should appear in bold. Your body paragraphs will correspond directly with the three main points of your thesis statement. Furthermore, you will need a total of four (4) sources for Essay 1 (one primary source and three secondary sources), which should all be documented accordingly in-text and on your Works Cited page.

You MUST use the following template for your thesis statement: Subject + claim + 3 elements of support.
