This chapter expressed the continual challenges in a managerial role. It goes into the concepts, tips and techniques that’s involved since meeting the requirements and achieving the goals of equally between an employer and the employee can be difficult for managers in various organizations. One of the motivational tools that is useful for employees from a combination of incentives like extrinsic, which as external palpable rewards, such as: money (pay, bonuses, stock options), benefits (health, dental, vision, paid time off, retirement accounts, etc.), flexible schedules, job responsibilities and duties, promotions, changes in status, supervision of others, and a nurturing organizational culture.

In contrast, intrinsic rewards are internal to the individual such as healthy relationships to develop in the workplace, meaningful work for employees, competence to develop skills above standards, choice that encourages organization in various ways and progress where managers hold employees accountable toward completing their assigned tasks and projects. Either of these reward incentives can encourage employees to reach for more with a company but, also benefits the manager since they provide them with various ways to excel and the manager is seen as more relatable but, also fun in some ways.

This chapter provided an overview for the education, training, and credentialing of physicians, nurses, nurses’ aides, mid level practitioners, and allied health professionals, how they were trained, and managing the quality of their work atmosphere. In addition, various explanations for health care professional turnover and costs of turnover, along with strategies for increasing retention and avoiding turnover as well as, conflict of interest as it relates to employed physicians.

Also, issues related to the management of the work life of physicians, nurses, nurses’ aides, mid level practitioners, and allied health professionals was interlaced through these various areas. It’s interesting to learn as a health care manager there’s a multitude of personnel, issues, resolutions and requirements to assess the various work environments depending on the specific department and facility being handled, including employee job burnout and satisfaction
