Identifying Communication Channels

One of the main challenges in designing health communication programs is to identify the channels that are most effective in reaching the people you wish to target with your messages. Doing your audience research beforehand will help identify the right channels. Appropriate distribution of the health content is critical to the success of a campaign. Communication channels include interpersonal channels, community-based approaches, and mass media.

Using the readings for this module, the online library resources, and the Internet, do the following:

  • Discuss advantages and disadvantages of different types of communication channels for a given health communication program.
  • Describe the criteria or issues that should be considered when selecting communication channels.

Support your statements with examples and scholarly references.

Write your initial response in 3–5 paragraphs. Apply APA standards to citation of sources.
