Question

Suppose the inverse demand and supply curves are given by (where Qs and Qd are quantities P is price): Demand: P = 35 – (1/3) Qd Supply: P = 5 + (2/3) Qs

(a) Calculate the equilibrium price and quantity in this market. Graph the demand and supply curves and illustrate your equilibrium point.(b) Calculate both the elasticities of demand and supply at the equilibrium point. How would a small increase in the number of firms supplying this market affect total consumer spending on the good? Explain. (c) Suppose the government institutes a price floor equal to $28. What is the quantity actually traded on the market? Is there an excess supply of created by this policy? Calculate and illustrate your answers. (d) Does the policy cause deadweight loss in the market? If so, calculate the deadweight loss and illustrate it in your diagram. (e) Suppose that instead of the price floor the government chooses to levy a $9/unit tax on sales of this good. What is the quantity sold in the market? What price do consumers pay? producers receive? Calculate the burden of the tax for consumers and producers on a per unit basis.

Suppose the inverse demand and supply curves

ASSIGNMENT: PSY382 CONSUMER BEHAVIOR The purpose of the assignment is to get you to think about the psychology of consumer behavior by applying it to your own life. The theories or concepts that you apply are basically up to your own perception of your own behavior. However, these must be theories grounded in the text and classroom discussion (i.e. I don’t want off the wall theories like aliens made you buy Tide rather than Cheer). The journal will have three goals: understanding the influences behind your purchases, understanding the consequences of your purchases, and giving you a chance to reassess and change your purchase patterns. The method is as follows:

1. For a FOUR WEEK period, you must keep a diary of the products you purchase. This is simply a listing of the products, when, and where you made the purchase. Do this on a daily basis.

2. At the end of each week, look for 3 products you seem to “consume” most regularly or consistently, then think back on that week and analyze:

a. why you bought that product over another b. what advantages or disadvantages resulted from purchasing that product over others c. your satisfaction/dissatisfaction with the purchase d. your intent to continue that purchase (or note if you decided to change your purchase pattern & why)

3. At the end of the four weeks, choose 3 key products and consider the one major psychological factor or process for each separate product (e.g. peer pressure, learning, subliminal messages etc.) that contributed most to your consumption pattern (i.e. one different process for each of the 3 products).

I want you to be very specific to both the psychological processes and its application to your specific purchase pattern. I want to see specific reasons for why you think it was that process that was most influential on that product.

The maximum length of each paper should be six (6) pages double spaced, with 1 inch margins and 12 point Times New Roman font.

assume If the airplane is flying at standard sea level, what is its velocity?

[ad_1]

An instrument used to ii.Ce the airspeed on many early low-speed airplanes, principally during 1919 to 1930, was the tube. This simple device is a convergent-divergent duct. (The front section’s cross-sectional area A decreases in the flow direction, and the back section’s cross-sectional area increases in the flow direction. Somewhere between the inlet and exit of the duct, there is a minimum area called the throat.) See figure below. Let A1 andA2 denote the inlet and throat areas, respectively. Let p1 and p2 be the pressures at the inlet and throat, respectively. The tube is mounted at a specific location on the airplane (generally on the wing or near the front of the fuselage) where the inlet velocity V1 is essentially the same as the free-stream velocity- that is, the velocity of the airplane through the air. With a knowledge of the area ratio A:z/A1 (a fixed design feature) and a measurement of the pressure difference p1 – P2• we can determine the airplane’s velocity. For example, assume If the airplane is flying at standard sea level, what is its velocity?

Create a brochure that explains the benefits of using stimulant medications

Assignment 2: Drug Treatment for ADHD

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) has received a lot of media coverage in the past ten years. One of the things most misunderstood about the disorder is the treatment. Children (and adults) afflicted with ADHD are often treated with stimulant drugs. Parents are often hesitant about giving their children these stimulant medications. Treating hyperactivity with a drug that increases activity appears paradoxical.

Using the Argosy University online library resources, find at least two peer-reviewed journal articles that explain the effect of stimulant drugs (such as Adderall or Ritalin—amphetamine or methylphenidate) on the brains of those with ADHD.

Create a brochure that explains the benefits of using stimulant medications and addresses the concerns of parents of children with ADHD. Be sure to use language appropriate for the audience. Include the following in your brochure: ◦Summarize the findings of the two articles. ◦Explain the effect that these drugs have in the brain. ◦Explain the concerns of using stimulant drugs to treat ADHD.

Develop a 2-3-page brochure in Word format. Apply APA standards to citation of sources. Use the following file naming convention: LastnameFirstInitial_M2_A2.doc. deliver your assignment to the M2: Assignment 2 Dropbox.

Examine why illegal money lending exists in society. How should Singapore view and address the problem of illegal money lending?

[ad_1]

Examine why illegal money lending exists in society. How should Singapore view and address the problem of illegal money lending?
In light of the concepts and theories you have learned, your paper should demonstrate evidence of academic research and depth of analysis, and should, minimally, include discussions revolving around:
• Examining definitions of crime and deviance: What constitutes ‘illegal money lending’? What laws are in place to address such activities, and are they sufficient? How do these laws compare with those of other countries? Is involvement in illegal money lending to be regarded as crime or deviance? Why are some sources of money lending illegal? Are there any changes in the laws and penalties over the years?
• Social norms and values: Who are the stakeholders? Who are the victims and who are the offenders? How does Singapore society view such offenders, victims, the laws and the penalties surrounding this issue? To what extent do the laws reflect societal norms and values?
• An analysis of the role of the media and appraisal of the statistics: How has the media depicted illegal moneylenders over the years? Are there any stereotypes created, affirmed, or debunked? What are the numbers (or estimates) on the offenders involved? How do we compare with other countries? Does the dark figure of crime apply to this phenomenon and why?
• Consideration and appraisal of theories (this section should form the bulk of your paper): Consider all the theories covered in the course: which theory or theories do you think explains/explain why illegal money lending exists in our societies, or why people become illegal moneylenders? Do you think those who borrow from illegal moneylenders should also be punished? Also consider theories of punishment and crime prevention in your report.
• Recommendations: Appraise and critique the current measures with regard to the crimes or issues you have identified. Are they sufficient? Do they reflect societal norms and values? You are also free to suggest any alternative or complementary measures.
The research paper you have to write, allows you to develop research and analytical skills. While your paper should cover the above pointers, you should not write in a step-by-step manner in accordance with the suggested pointers raised. Rather, your paper should take the form of a coherent, continuous essay
Things to note:
• Application and appraisal of theories in discussion of case
• Demonstration of key skills in identifying issues; synthesising and analysing case material; and appraising and recommending measures
• Quality of research, and adequate and accurate citations/references (NB: Do not cite Wikipedia or generic online sources.
• Language and adherence to the word limit
• Remember to include in-text citations and a reference list in the APA style (Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 6th ed.) (2010). Available at http://www.apastyle.org.

The Door Co Corporation is a leading manufacturer of garage doors. All doors are manufactured in their plant in Carmel, Indiana, and shipped to distribution centers or major customers. Door Co recently acquired another manufacturer of garage doors, Wisconsin Door, and is considering moving its wood door operations to the Wisconsin plant. A key consideration in this decision is the transportation and production costs at the two plants and the new construction and relocation costs. Complicating matters is the fact that marketing is predicting a decline in the demand for wood doors. The company developed three scenarios: 1. Demand falls slightly, with no noticeable effect on production. 2. Demand and production decline 20%. 3. Demand and production decline 45%. The table below shows the total costs under each decision and scenario. a. What decision should Door Co make using the average payoff, aggressive, conservative, and opportunity loss decision strategies discussed in this chapter? b. Suppose the probabilities of the three scenarios are estimated to be 0.15, 0.40, and 0.45, respectively. Construct a decision tree and compute the rollback values to find the best expected value decision.

Are there any additional laws or guidelines that can be created to increase the protection of employees against further acts of discrimination?

[ad_1]

Are there sufficient protections in the workplace against racial
discrimination? More than ever, the American worker is aware of the
lawsuits and case decisions regarding racial discrimination. Key
legislation and corporate guidelines provide a framework for
employers to govern their actions as well as protect them from
legal action; however, the typical employee with limited resources
and the need to remain employed will frequently accept
discriminatory action in fear of retribution or retaliatory acts.
Critics argue that discriminatory practices still exist though they
are more discreet. Cite one or more Internet sources in your
initial response. Are there any additional laws or guidelines that
can be created to increase the protection of employees against
further acts of discrimination?
